Dear colleague,

October 2010 We are looking forward to welcoming you to next year's 33rd Charing Cross International Symposium which promises to be the best ever. The first announcement of "Vascular and Endovascular Consensus Update" can now be found online at

www.cxsymposium.com/programme.htm

Once again the CX programme takes place over four days. The plenary sessions run in a logical sequence starting with the lower limb on the Saturday, the abdominal aorta on the Sunday, the thoracic aorta and carotids on the Monday, renals and the venous day on the Tuesday. Our world class faculty will discuss controversial topics, challenge the evidence and take part in a series of head-to-head debates to reach a consensus after discussion.

The thrust of this year's Charing Cross is 'towards consensus', which we prioritise every three years as the subject moves so fast. Here are the highlights of this year's CX plenary programme:

EVAR: Where are we post publication of the European endovascular aneurysm trials? The UK EVAR trials recruited patients from 1999 to 2004. There is now a plethora of new EVAR devices becoming available in Europe. There will be an extensive overview of all the latest EVAR devices at CX33. It is expected that these new devices will greatly improve EVAR performance in terms of complications, readmission rates and conformability to the aorta and therefore, reduce post-operative complications and improve durability of EVAR.

Peripheral: We shall seek consensus on the proof of benefit from the latest below the knee technologies such as stem cells, long balloons, drug eluting stents and drug coated balloons.

Renal: After the ASTRAL trial we shall seek consensus whether there is any justification for renal artery intervention and whether the CORAL trial adds to our knowledge.

Carotid: We shall examine the impact of the CREST and ICSS trials on carotid stenting against a background of jubilant carotid endarterectomy enthusiasts.

There will again be a plethora of additional events including a whole day of live cases from Leipzig on interventional techniques for the treatment of critical limb ischaemia (LINC@CX), the CX St George's Vascular Access Course over 2 days, complex cases for European Vascular Surgeons-in-Training and for the first time, the CX Vascular Imaging Course. The ilegx Annual Meeting will also be held during CX 2011. A series of new product launches are set to coincide with the next CX Symposium and the technical exhibition is considerably larger than last year with again 6 CX Pavilions in response to the sponsors' increasing focus on education.

Please register early to secure the special early bird registration rate. Spaces are limited. The last CX Symposium attracted around 2750 vascular specialists from 75 countries and we anticipate a similar attendance in 2011. The quickest and easiest way is by visiting

www.cxsymposium.com/register.htm

Should you have any queries, please contact Chris Timmins at the symposium office on the hotline number +44 (0) 20 7736 8788 or using the details below. The CX Programme Co-Chairs, Advisors and Directors look forward to seeing you in London next April for the 33rd Charing Cross International Symposium

Yours sincerely
