Thermal Ablation Course

• Description: Hands-on course for those interested in improving their thermal ablation skills and patient satisfaction. The course consists of interactive presentations, discussions, and hands-on activities. At the hands-on stations, the participants prepare the equipment to be ready to use and simulate the procedure. The variety of learning methods helps participants reach learning outcomes.
• Key learning outcomes:  

1. 1. Describe the indications for thermal ablation and choose the optimal treatment strategy for refluxing superficial veins.
   2. Compare the advantages of thermal ablation to conservative treatment.
   3. Recognise the possible pitfalls and have tools to avoid them.
   4. List the procedural steps for performing thermal ablation.
   5. Improve both the technical success of the procedure and patient satisfaction.

Percutaneous Closure Technologies Course

   2. Understand the large hole percutaneous closure device technologies – advantages, disadvantages, and tips/tricks.

Vascular Access Real-life Ultrasound Session with Patients + Simulators

• Description:  Clinical and radiological assessment of a surgical and percutaneous AVF created using the Ellypsis device. Designed to teach the best practices in assessing both clinical and radiological maturity of a sAVF and pAVF.

1. 1. Understand the key differences between the Ellipsys pAVF and surgical AVF.
   2. Explore and practice best techniques for assessing and cannulating a sAVF and pAVF.

Aortic Triathlon

• Description: Trainees will compete in teams of 2 and work at different stations simultanously for 2 hours: endovascular simulators, EVAR Viva case scenario, computer stations.

Carotid Endarterectomy Course

• Description: This course is designed to give participants a comprehensive understanding of an open endarterectomy procedure through didactic tutorials and hands-on practice using models. Participants will learn how to use a shunt, receive a step-by-step demonstration of endarterectomy and practice stitching a patch. Attendees will cover mechanical thrombectomy for stroke.

Carotid Stenting Course

ZFEN Simulation Station Tuseday 23 April

ZFEN Simulator: Fenestration cannulation simulation using ZFEN simulator

Day 1 of the ZFEN Simulation Station will be set up to practice fenestration cannulation simulations.

This is a hands-on course on a high-fidelity simulator that accurately reflects the knobology and steps of insertion, partial deployment, branch cannulation, and completion of the steps to successfully place a standard ZFEN device.

The station will be open all day for participants to drop by. An expert faculty member and key Cook personnel will be on hand to assist you.

This station is ideal for trainees who want to practice these simple and core skills as well as for experienced physicians who are new to aortic surgery.

Introduction to Vascular Surgery
