FAQs
Educational Grants are provided to support physician attendance at the Charing Cross Symposium (CX). The level of support varies depending on the sponsoring partner and the grant awarded. Unless otherwise stated, in-person grants typically include:
- Full registration – providing access to the full scientific programme, workshops and exhibition.
- Travel grant – to contribute towards the cost of an economy class flight or standard class rail travel.
- Three nights’ hotel – pre-arranged accommodation at an official CX partner hotel, for single occupancy, including breakfast.
Please note: A maximum of three hotel nights will be provided and must be used as part of your grant. Any additional nights, room upgrades or incidental hotel charges are the responsibility of the delegate.
Applying for an Educational Grant is simple:
1. Submit your application
- Apply via the Delegate Portal and click on ‘Educational Grant Application’.
- Ensure to complete all required sections of the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Only one application per person will be accepted – *submitting multiple applications will not increase your chances of receiving a grant.
2. Application review / period
- The CX Educational Grants Team review all applications on a rolling basis.
- Applications are assessed against the sponsoring partner’s eligibility criteria – *meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee that a grant will be awarded.
- Grants are awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come-first-served basis, or until all available funding has been allocated (whichever occurs first).
- Applications close at 00:00 (midnight) GMT on 31 January 2027.
3. Track your application
- You can track the status of your application through the Delegate Portal.
- Once a decision has been made, you will automatically receive an email with the outcome and relevant next steps.
All applications will be reviewed against the eligibility criteria provided by the supporting industry partners, and applicants will receive one of the following outcomes:
- Successful: You have been awarded an Educational Grant and will receive further instructions on the next steps to complete.
- Waiting list: Your application is eligible, but no grant is currently available. Should additional grants become available, your application may be reviewed.
- Unsuccessful: Your application does not meet the eligibility criteria and has not been selected for an Educational Grant.
The CX Educational Grants Team reviews applications on a rolling basis and aims to notify applicants of an outcome within the same week of submission, where possible.
As Educational Grants are limited and allocated throughout the application period, some eligible applications may be placed on a waiting list if no grants are immediately available. Should additional grants become available, or if an awarded delegate is no longer able to attend, and their grant is forfeited, applications from the waiting list will be reviewed accordingly.
Applications close on 31 January 2027, by which time every applicant will have been notified of their application status via the Delegate Portal. If you would like an update on the availability of Educational Grants, you can contact the CX Educational Grants Team via the Delegate Portal by submitting an enquiry.
- Applications are valid exclusively for the Charing Cross Symposium 2027 only.
- Applicants are responsible for obtaining all required documentation and approvals, including visas, leave of absence, and compliance with any applicable health or travel requirements.
- Educational grants are awarded exclusively to the selected applicant and are non-transferable. This includes requests to transfer the grant to a colleague, even if they are employed by the same institution.
- If you have received a grant, and can no longer attend for any reason, you must notify the Educational Grants team no later than Monday 5th March, 2027. This enables the grant to be reallocated to another eligible applicant. Failure to provide timely notification, including in cases of illness or force majeure, may result in ineligibility for future educational grants and a possible ‘late-fee’ charge.
- Reimbursements will only be made to participants that attended the full event and only once the event is complete.
Applications close at 00:00 (midnight) GMT on Sunday, 31 January 2027.
No further applications will be accepted after the closing date and time. Only applications submitted before the deadline will be eligible for review.
Eligibility criteria vary between sponsoring partners and may include factors such as specialty, country, city, institution, or other requirements for consideration for a grant.
Educational Grants are limited and awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to funding availability. While meeting the eligibility criteria is required, it does not guarantee that you will receive a grant. Grant offers are made based on the date and time of submission and the availability of funding. We encourage you to apply as early as possible, as available funding may be fully allocated before the application closing date.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all information provided in their application is complete and accurate. The information submitted may be used for reporting and declaration purposes to relevant regulatory or official bodies.
